Redshirts - John Scalzi When I pick up a Scalzi book to read, I know I'm going to enjoy myself. This book was no exception. I liked the characters, I liked the sense of humor, I liked the lunacy of the plot. His writing style flows smoothly, so that you can enjoy the plot.

It's been a very long time since I watched Star Trek, but reading this brought back those memories.

Although no opportunity for my favorite Star Trek routine - when Capt. Kirk would meet some scantily clad alien (but very human looking) babe, you could almost count on her saying "Kiss? What is kiss?" Intergalactic language issues being what they are, a demo was really the only way to enlighten her................
