My general disinterest in this book may be because of my own criteria for a "good read." The book must either have interesting characters (preferably at least one character I can identify with/like/root for) or an interesting plot, so that I really do want to know how things will end up. Unfortunately, this book had neither.
I didn't find any of the characters interesting - they just were there. And, to the extent that anything happened in the book, I was certainly not compelled to see how it would end up.
Why did I even keep reading? I guess I'm a sucker for (1) finishing what I started and (2) figuring that if a book has been so highly rated, won prizes, etc., it's bound to get better!
I didn't dislike it, and it was well written, so I'll give it 2 stars, rather than 1.
